FAQ

  • What are some of the most popular kitchen remodeling colors?

     We've been asked this question quite a bit and we have come across a few. When it comes to countertops and backsplash colors, either lighter shades of granite or quartz tend to be more popular than darker ones for their versatility with a variety of appliances and cabinets. Also when considering linoleum, lighter is better if the room gets lots of light but darker is better if the kitchen stays fairly dark like in an office space or bedroom. On the other hand when considering flooring stains such as Hickory, Chestnut, White Oak etc… it's usually easier to go darker since you'll likely have little control over how much sunlight will shine on it.

  • What are some kitchen remodeling trends?

    Kitchens are getting larger and more spacious with an average increase of 100 square feet in the last few years. Instead of designing kitchens to have appliances in them, people are now choosing cabinets that blend into backsplashes/countertops to create a flat surface which is easier to clean and maintain while also allowing for custom installations later on down the road. Also, there has been a trend towards replacing countertop space by cutting it out and turning it into shelves behind cabinetry instead of leaving it empty underneath or placing easy to clean covers over it like many people used to do before. For sinks, we've seen an increase in the use of composite deck mount/under-mount sinks because they offer a seamless transition between your countertop and sink which doesn't show drainage holes. 

    Some other trends include cupboards getting deeper, railing height being a little higher and lighting moving from over the counter to under it.

  • What is the cost for a new kitchen?

    This question really depends on what exactly you're looking to do with your kitchen but we've seen an average price increase of about 10-30% between a full gut job complete removal of all existing cabinets, countertops, and appliances and the same design put in again along with minor upgrades like adding pull-out drawers or under cabinet lighting add-ons etc.. We don't usually recommend this though if it's something you're looking to do because it's more cost-effective long term to pick a kitchen that compliments your needs without spending money on extras (like we said earlier) and save those extra funds for things like custom tile work or backsplash.

  • How long does the whole kitchen remodeling process take?

    This depends on if you're completely gutting your kitchen and starting from scratch or simply just upgrading it with new cabinetry, appliances etc.. If its a complete tear down then we usually like to give ourselves a couple of weeks in between each step to ensure we have enough time to properly design it and create custom plans/installations that will fit into your budget but also remain within specifications that are safe for you and others around the home.

  • How do I get a better looking backsplash?

    The easiest solution would be installing new tiles above your countertops but this can be costly if you're adding new appliances and a new backsplash, so the best solution is to only replace the existing tiles, but a better option in our eyes would be to have that entire section, whatever it may be, updated with new wood. If your cabinets are an off-white color then we highly recommend installing custom stained hardwood countertops which will work wonderfully with tiles on either side of them or even laminates depending on what look you might want.
